I have just seen this amazing exhibition... there are no words to describe it. Acabo de ver esta magnífica exposición... no hay palabras para describirla.

I am posting here one of my earliest paintings… “Alice at mirror” is from a time, when I used to paint only with pastels. I am posting this painting because I would like to talk now of the other side of the mirror… Yes, recently I felt the urge of feeling magic realism… the beautiful book I have read from García Márquez forced me to make a break in my readings. I am usually always reading something, but after this book I needed a period of no reading in order to digest it well… and some days ago I watched a film by Almodovar that I have never seen before: “Talk to her”. And again I feel that magic realism is around me now :) These two works made me have a crush on both main characters. The first one was Cayetano Delaura, the tormented priest that fell in love with a 12 years old marquise, and then Benancio, the carer that made love to the girl in coma, he’s looking after. Under these brief and cold descriptions Cayetano would be a pederast and Benancio a rapist. ...

Gabriel García Márquez fictitious personifications are so strong that they are writhing inside my head... I have fell deeply in love with these characters.  And what do I do when I fall in love with someone? I paint it :) so here is the first painting I have made.  The character is the tormented and fascinating Cayetano Delaura from "Of Love and Other Demons"... --------- Los personajes ficticios de Gabriel García Márquez son tan fuertes que aún se retuercen dentro de mi cabeza... Me he enamorado intensamente de estos personajes. Y qué es lo que usualmente hago cuando me enamoro de algo o alguién? Lo pinto :) así que aquí está el primer cuadro que hice.  El personajes es el atormentado y fascinante Cayetano Delaura de "El Amor y otros Demonios"...

I have to thank my daughter, because being her so touched after reading “One hundred years of Solitude”, made me realized that I haven’t read García Márquez since I was a young girl too. So I went to the library and picked up the first book I found.   I devoured it : ) Sometimes my life is flat, I get immersed in everyday routine and definitely reading such a book made me feel inspired again.   I found subjects that have questioned my whole life like craziness, love, myths, obsessions, reality, wonderland… The last exhibition I visited, the one at the Royal Academy gave me the opportunity to experience fantastic paintings, and although I for sure cannot demerit those artists' virtuosism, the most important thing I noticed in those paintings was this quality that makes a painting be so alive for ever: inspiration.   Many times I have lacked inspiration and I have asked myself so many times what can I do to get the muse visit me again… serendipity brought me this book...

One year has already passed... and here I am posting the views from my studio starting with Autumn 2009.  Soon I will see again those ochers and oranges that I love so much :) ----- Ya pasó un año... y aquí muestro las vistas desde mi estudio empezando por el otoño del 2009.  Pronto veré de nuevo esos ocres y naranjas que me encantan :)

I paint very seldom still lifes, but an English friend invited me to his allotment last weekend and I was so inspired... yes, I did have a wonderful time :) ------ Muy raramente pinto naturalezas muertas, pero un amigo inglés me invitó a su terreno este fin de semana y sí que estuve inspirada.... sí, la pasé en verdad bien :)

I have received very good news... and when I am happy I paint and paint and paint...so today I finished my first painting of some I have already started... I was surprised to see that it has a pink shade, because Pink is not a colour I use in my palette... anyway! ---------- Recibí muy buenas noticias... y cuando estoy feliz pinto y pinto y pinto... así que hoy terminé la primera pintura de algunas que he comenzado... Me sorprendió notar un matiz rosado en la pintura, ya que el rosa no es un color que esté en mi paleta... en fin!

The "Carnaval del Pueblo" celebrated the bicentenary Independence of some Latin-American countries... my son Luis participated :) ------- El "Carnaval del Pueblo" celebró el bicentenario de la Independencia de algunos países de Latinoamérica... mi hijo Luis participó :)

Last weekend we were invited to dinner.  A very good Italian friend has cooked for us.  The dinner was real simple: some roasted aubergines, stuffed tomatoes and potatoes… but the flavour!  Incredible that something that simple could taste that good.  But the cooker was Italian and they do have a special taste for everything.  The whole evening was incredible, not only the food, but the wine, the chat, the jokes, and at the end an amazing tea ceremony!  (for me, who loves rituals) After enjoying this great evening I realized that I am very lucky because I have very good Italian friends.  I know that not all Italians are like that…  but I am very fortunate to have found maybe some of the best persons in Italy.  Thanks to these friends I have been able to go deeper into the Italian Culture, that is in fact sooo rich, and the truth is the more I know about Italy, the hungrier I become. I love the Italian way to be, to flirt, to enjoy life, to...

Here you could see some pics of The Mall Galleries Opening On July 20th.  The Mall Galleries is a prestigious gallery located at London West End, just in the road that leads you to Buckingham Palace.  The exhibition looked fantastic!
