A leap of faith

13 years ago I took a leap of faith and came with my family to London.  I thought it was going to be easy.

It was not.

I thought that because during my youth I lived in another country, and it was one of the best experiences in my life. That other country was Germany, and since then I longed for Europe, well I confess I still do… because you should know, England is not Europe. Of course this is my very personal view.

I was born in Mexico City, a vibrant and chaotic city. Mexico is a surreal beautiful country. When you are abroad you worth it even more. You might wondered then, why did we decide to leave Mexico?
Well, we decided to leave Mexico because my country was becoming very insecure. It was during president Calderon’s failed drug war. Mexico was so violent that we decided to migrate for the sake of our family.

I have been very lucky to be able to travel a lot during my lifetime. When I was a kid, I was two months in China. It was the China of Mao Tse Tung. Yes, I am that old and I still long for new adventures and to live in yet another country.

I don’t know yet for how long I will be still living in London. We were about to leave when the pandemic started. I am very grateful of my experience here. I have grown so much here, as an artist and as a human being. London does offer you many things, your perspective is broader after living in this multicultural city.

Therefore, I decided to write about my experience here. I will write about art, nature, friendship, politics… everything that has touched me deeply.  I hope you will enjoy it and I thank you for your time & curiosity.
