Long silhouettes

This 2 oils were just finished today... I am posting them without colors just to see if they still have impact.

A very good friend, Italian art critic Marina Zatta after seeing my new paintings wrote me the following:

"usavi il colore in maniera troppo invadente rispetto all'espressività dell'insieme, come se il colore fosse il fine e non il mezzo per ottenere un espressione. ora invece sei riuscita a pulire i tuoi lavori, a renderli più fluidi, scorrevoli e questo non ha tolto nulla al discorso espressivo, anzi, l'ha reso più chiaro. credo fosse picasso che diceva che chi toglie aggiunge e chi aggiunge toglie. io sono pienamente daccordo".

TRANSLATION to English:
You used colors in a very intruding way in reference to the expressivity of the whole, as if colors were the goal and not the media to achieve an expression. Now You are able to polish your work, to make it more fluid, flowing and this has not broken the expressive speech, but on the contrary it has made it even more clear. I think it was Picasso who said that substracting is adding and adding is substracting, and I do agree with this.

Tu arte, cada vez más pulido y expresivo, es un regalo para quienes tenemos el gusto de conocerte en persona, asi como para aquellos que te han encontrado en la red. No dejes de expresarte. Pues así en la acuarela que mojas, todos vivimos un poco a través de tí. Muchas gracias por tu amistad.
Por cierto que la acuarela se ve especialmente bien en la red.

This weekend I went twice to the Royal Academy of Arts to the talks of Mexican Architects.  The first talk on Saturday was by architect Michel Rojkind. It was amazing, I liked very much the friendly and social approach to all of his projects, they are quite innovative and he thinks of people.  He is an excellent story teller and all the public was captured by his talk. He is a people person, and he reflects that in his architecture... the project that impact me the most was the on-site extension of la Cineteca Nacional. I loved this place since I was very young and used to live in Satélite; as I am a film lover remember driving every weekend there. Later I was lucky enough to live in Coyoacan so I travelled there by bike.  I was very impressed by the fact that Rojkind's project involves the whole area of the Cineteca, he includes the Archives in his plan and leaves the old Cineteca building untouched, giving tribute to the history of this old buildi...

A leap of faith

  13 years ago I took a leap of faith and came with my family to London.  I thought it was going to be easy. It was not. I thought that because during my youth I lived in another country, and it was one of the best experiences in my life. That other country was Germany, and since then I longed for Europe, well I confess I still do… because you should know, England is not Europe. Of course this is my very personal view. I was born in Mexico City, a vibrant and chaotic city. Mexico is a surreal beautiful country. When you are abroad you worth it even more.
