A Loft?

I guess that a painter's dream is to have a big place in where you can lay canvases everywhere and paint feeling all the space around you. I like to paint big, because then I have really the feeling that I may be immersed in my painting...
Having a loft! That must be wonderful...
But my studio is just the opposite, and now I have painted so much that there's no more space for me to paint... Once I read that a painting studio should have very tall ceilings... fortunately I have a small "patio" just in front my studio, and because I love plants I have put many pots around trying to make my place cosy and alife :) so whenever it is possible I set my painting easel out in the middle of the patio and here I have the best loft, with the best natural light, with my beloved plants and the highest ceiling a loft could ever have, the sky :)

tu terraza se ve hermosa... es hermosa con todas esas lindas plantitas que tienes.

por otrolado, ya ves lo que platicabamos hoy en la comida, yo tengo el taller amplio y con "todo" ... menos agua! y ese pequeñisimo detalle me ha impedido aprovecharlo como quisiera. pero ya será!

ah!... espero que hayas disfrutado tu cumple!

Oh sí!!! La pasé re bien en mi cumpleaños incluyo la rica comida que tuve contigo...gracias amiga.
Sí, amo mis plantas y siempre que subo a pintar me alegra consentirlas. Y como puedes ver en el estudio ya no quepo! Así que siempre que puedo pinto afuera...

Una volta, molti anni fa, capitai nello studio di un anziano scultore: era un vecchio stabilimento nel cuore di Milano. Non avevo mai visto, né mai avrei più visto uno spazio così vasto, diviso in immensi locali dalle grandi vetrate, e distribuito su più piani. Ovunque erano ammonticchiati corpi d’argilla di varie dimensioni – ricordo figure d’uomo dal segno tormentato. Tutto il lavoro di una lunga vita.
Il mio studio è il tavolo su cui mangio, la sedia su cui leggo e scrivo, una lampada e un cavalletto, aperto in un angolo del soggiorno. Ma, in realtà, quando disegno, il mio spazio è assai più grande, oltre quel foglio, attraverso cui cerco di vedere il mondo vero. :-)

Lo spazio che tu hai descritto é stato indimenticabilé, vero? Non solo per quello che tu hai visto, ma quello che hai sentito. Tutti spazi hanno una certa vibrazione e credo che questo spazio aveva una risonanza con te, hai ascoltato quello che diceva Nicola Tesla?

Wow! It looks wonderful and cozy, as you wanted it to be. But you are right, it is crowded now. Anyway, I don't think the better the studio is the better you can paint or create. Yours seems like an extension of your personality, organized, plenty of life and light. I like it!

Yes, it has light, the best light for an artist...from the north. I think that is the most important thing...plenty of light :))))

An extension of my personality??? I hope my personality is not sooo crowded :)

This weekend I went twice to the Royal Academy of Arts to the talks of Mexican Architects.  The first talk on Saturday was by architect Michel Rojkind. It was amazing, I liked very much the friendly and social approach to all of his projects, they are quite innovative and he thinks of people.  He is an excellent story teller and all the public was captured by his talk. He is a people person, and he reflects that in his architecture... the project that impact me the most was the on-site extension of la Cineteca Nacional. I loved this place since I was very young and used to live in Satélite; as I am a film lover remember driving every weekend there. Later I was lucky enough to live in Coyoacan so I travelled there by bike.  I was very impressed by the fact that Rojkind's project involves the whole area of the Cineteca, he includes the Archives in his plan and leaves the old Cineteca building untouched, giving tribute to the history of this old buildi...

A leap of faith

  13 years ago I took a leap of faith and came with my family to London.  I thought it was going to be easy. It was not. I thought that because during my youth I lived in another country, and it was one of the best experiences in my life. That other country was Germany, and since then I longed for Europe, well I confess I still do… because you should know, England is not Europe. Of course this is my very personal view. I was born in Mexico City, a vibrant and chaotic city. Mexico is a surreal beautiful country. When you are abroad you worth it even more.
