British Islands ... a magnet?

The picture I am posting here belongs to the Modern Tate.

The crash is a work of art by Dora Salcedo (Colombian) and it intervenes directly in the fabric of the huge Turbine Hall. I was there 5 months ago and I cannot imagine the impact that this chasm should bring on to Tate visitors. LA told me that the feeling of that immense hall fractured opens many questions... Is it a crash of modernity? A crash of Art?

A crash of Art? I strongly believe that Art has already evolved. It is no more only painting but living... I mean, day to day events can be understood by Art... Do you remember that strange exhibition where dead bodies (not human, but animal) were shown at the Carrillo Gil, a Mexican Contemporary Museum? Who ca deny that the awful picture made by Toscani, with the anorexic woman in her bones is not Art? I hardly can imagine my own life without those Art pieces... even though they frighten me, most of the times...

Regarding contemporary art I have big doubts. Most of the conceptual work I see is trash.

Of course there are some works that really touch you, that make arise so many questions. One of this works is this one, and I do think that even the name of the piece: Shibboleth, makes ask us many questions.

  13 years ago I took a leap of faith and came with my family to London.  I thought it was going to be easy. It was not.
