Happy Water Tiger year 2022 Today it is the new solar Chinese year. The usual big celebrations were cancelled this year, but I plan to go to China Town this weekend to celebrate anyway. Time for Chinese is not linear but circular. I love this concept (other advanced cultures like the Mayans had this same conception of time too). It is important to recognise those patterns in the past to learn from our mistakes and advance into the future. I am looking at these models in my life as well. When I was 12 years old I had the amazing opportunity to be 2 months in China. On that occasion Mao Tse Tung was still ruling. China has changed a lot since then... me too. Since that encounter I have not been back to China, but last year I immersed myself again in this ancient culture. 13 years ago I took a leap of faith and came with my family to London. I thought it was going to be easy. It was not. I thought that because during my youth I lived in another country, and it was one of the best experiences in my life. That other country was Germany, and since then I longed for Europe, well I confess I still do… because you should know, England is not Europe. Of course this is my very personal view. I was born in Mexico City, a vibrant and chaotic city. Mexico is a surreal beautiful country. When you are abroad you worth it even more. You might wondered then, why did we decide to leave Mexico? Well, we decided to leave Mexico because my country was becoming very insecure. It was during president Calderon’s failed drug war.
