This watercolor is already on my web site, but today takes place the birthday of two very special friends of mine: Norma and Fernando and I wanted to post a watercolor I do like very much. That's why I decided to post Odalisca :)

I like Odalisca... and I also like your paintings. Your watercolors mainly. Does that mean that I am light? Light in my feelings? In my own perception, watercolors are as ideas, the ideas you always want to later improve to a better work of art... but isn't the first idea, or the firs impression the one the one that always is in your mind?
Thank you for your comment anonymous... I agree with what you say, I express myself better though watercolors. When I use water I work very fast, I don't care what's happening, which color will suit better the painting. Feelings rule. Everything is through emotion, no time to think, I enter in another dimension which is in fact very similar to my being. I am not a thoughtful person, I am also not patient and above all I am impulsive.
Yes, the first impression is the only one that you cannot erase in your mind...
This weekend I went twice to the Royal Academy of Arts to the talks of Mexican Architects. The first talk on Saturday was by architect Michel Rojkind. He is an excellent story teller and all the public was captured by his talk. He is a people person, and he reflects that in his architecture... the project that impact me the most was the on-site extension of la Cineteca Nacional. I loved this place since I was very young and used to live in Satélite; as I am a film lover remember driving every weekend there. Later I was lucky enough to live in Coyoacan so I travelled there by bike. I was very impressed by the fact that Rojkind's project involves the whole area of the Cineteca, he includes the Archives in his plan and leaves the old Cineteca building untouched, giving tribute to the history of this old buildi...
13 years ago I took a leap of faith and came with my family to London. I thought it was going to be easy. It was not. I thought that because during my youth I lived in another country, and it was one of the best experiences in my life. That other country was Germany, and since then I longed for Europe, well I confess I still do… because you should know, England is not Europe. Of course this is my very personal view. I was born in Mexico City, a vibrant and chaotic city. Mexico is a surreal beautiful country. When you are abroad you worth it even more. You might wondered then, why did we decide to leave Mexico? Well, we decided to leave Mexico because my country was becoming very insecure. It was during president Calderon’s failed drug war. Mexico was so violent that we decided to migrate for the sake of our family. I have been very lucky to be able to travel a lot during my lifetime. When I was a kid, I was two months in China. It was the China of Mao ...
